Introducing the lastest and safest laser hair removal technology from the USA: The ND YAG laser

At the Angel Laser Clinic we use a ND YAG laser which is one of the most advanced forms of laser hair removal treatment. The ND YAG laser emits an intense beam of light that allows it to treat a broader range of skin types than traditional lasers.

For most patients, laser hair removal is a permanent way to get rid of the unwanted body hair. There are some side effects involved with laser hair removal; however going to the wrong facility can leave you with scarring. The likelihood of scarring depends on the following variables:

  • The type of laser being used. Depending on your skin, it will be correct to use one or other types of laser: DiodeLaser, AlexandriteLaser or RubyLaser for fair skin, DioLaser for Darker white skin and Light brown skin, Nd:YAG Laser for brown and black skin.
  • The experience of the doctor or laser technician. Poorly trained technicians with no medical experience can sometimes carry out hair removal procedures. There are over 2,000 medical spas offering laser hair removal, but not all of them have any certification on how to properly use the laser. Ensure that your doctor has all the requirements needed to practice laser treatments. Also, it is not only important that the laser hair removal machine is approved by the FDA; the laser hair removal machine that will be used must be suited to your skin type and skin colour.
  • Your skin type will also play a role in determining your skins ability to scar. If the laser that your technician uses is unsuitable for your skin type, your skin can be burnt and scarring.

Why the YAG laser is better than IPL

Intense pulse light (IPL) was previously a common method for hair removal. Here are some of main points why you should seriously consider a treatment with our YAG laser:

1. Larger treatment areas: The YAG laser performs laser hair removal on larger body areas

2. Delicate treatment areas like the face

3. LASER light is monochromatic, so this means nearly 100% of LASER light is ONE pure colour. Is NOT monochromatic meaning that it has many different colours. Only a small percentage of these colours are effective in the treatment of hair reduction.

4. LASER is collimated, meaning it’s slow to diverge or spread out. This makes laser light very powerful as nearly 100% of the light can be effective in the treatment of hair reduction. IPL is NOT collimated and is therefore quick to spread making it less effective for hair reduction.

[blockquote cite="I am glad I came across this clinic and finished my laser hair removal sessions there. I totally love the results. I first went to a place that does IPL, that was a mistake, it did not work for me and I ended up wasting my money. If you want to be treated with care, in a professional environment and with the latest laser at a fair price then go to them."][/blockquote]

Permanent hair removal and long-term hair removal

Laser hair removal is an efficient method that can result in long-term or even permanent hair reduction.

However, we can not permanently remove all the hair in one session. The reduction of hair depends in how many sessions you need. While it is impossible to say exactly how many sessions you may need, it is possible to do an estimation at a consultation.

The effectiveness of hair removal depends directly on the number of sessions attended, but this is not the only factor. Your skin type could also be an importan factor as well as the density and location of hair and hair colour.

Our laser hair removal expert will be able to estimate the number of sessions you will need with an associated estimated laser hair removal cost.

[blockquote cite="It is tucked away, but great when you get there. The practitioner is really professional and thorough. I spoke to so many people to wasted their money without decent results getting painful IPL from salons with groupon offers. This place is really fab, uses the best and most focused hair removal and skin pigment removal lasers, and the environment is clean, relaxed and bright. I’ve already recommended her to lots of my friends, and they all say the same. Don’t bother wasting your money on IPL."][/blockquote]

Frequently asked questions about laser hair removal

[blockquote cite="I looked for laser hair removal in London and went to few consultations at different clinics. Being a man I was a bit embarrassed as my back was very hairy and made me feel so uncomfortable. I pushed myself to try to do something about it. I chose The Angel Laser Clinic because the people there were very friendly and respectful. I felt comfortable discussing my concerns with the laser nurse and the knowledgeable way in which she answered my questions convinced me I was in good hands. I’m much more confident now, especially when I go on holiday. Thank you."][/blockquote]

How does laser hair removal work?

The laser beam passes through the skin without damaging it. The laser light is absorbed by melanin which is the dark pigment within the hair and then converted to heat. This allows a selective destruction of the base of the hair follicle, making it unable to produce hair as it did before. The surrounding skin is unharmed.

Who can be treated?

With the appropriate laser technology all skin types can be treated safely. Asian and Black skin is particularly at risk of side-effects if treated with IPL or lasers such as the Ruby, Alexandrite or Diode, among others. That is why in The Angel laser clinic we use the Nd:YAG to treat dark skin types, which is the safest laser to treat them.

How does Elite laser compare with other hair removal methods?

Shaving, waxing and depilatory creams are all temporary methods which must be repeated very regularly. Electrolysis treats hairs individually and therefore it can take a very long time. A major advantage of laser hair removal treatment is that it affects a large number of hair follicles at once, resulting in quicker treatment and permanent results.

[/one_half_last]

Why are multiple treatments needed?

Because the laser affects the hair when it is in active growth (the anagen phase) and not every hair is in this phase at any one time. Anywhere from 30% to 90% of the hair on the body is in the anagen phase at any one time, depending on the part of the body. 60% to 90% of the hair in the anagen phase is damaged after each session.

How many treatments are needed?

Normally around 6 to 8 treatments are required, once every 6 weeks for the body and every 4 weeks for the face. However, the number of sessions varies from person to person depending skin type, hair colour, thickness of the hair and the area of the body.

Is it painful?

It is virtually painless. The sensation is often described as a mild stinging, but the levels of sensitivity vary between people and skin areas. Cold air is blown during the procedure to cool and numb the skin, removing the need for any anaesthetic (though this can be used if required).

What happens after the treatment?

Redness, goose bumps and sensitivity in the area treated are completely normal and generally settle down within 24 hours. A few days after the treatment the hair will start to grow back. You can shave after 4 days. Within the next 2 to 3 weeks the hair that was damaged by the laser will fall out. Over a course of treatments the hair growth will be slow, becoming thinner and patchier. Protecting your skin from the sun is essential.

[info_box] We never forget what’s important, YOU! We’d really love to meet you and have the chance to talk about how laser hair removal will work best for your skin. Call now on 020 7607 5111 to speak to our friendly staff. Your first skin exam is FREE. [/info_box]

Is the laser safe?

Yes, at The Angel Laser Clinic laser hair removal is totally safe. There is an extremely low risk of complications when experienced practitioners operate the correct laser for a given skin type.

Does the laser cause cancer?

Laser hair removal uses infrared light. This produces intense heat but does not cause DNA damage within the skin cells. It is therefore extremely unlikely to cause cell mutation.

Are the results permanent?

Yes. Around 60-95% of targeted hair is permanently removed after the recommended course of treatments and the hair that is left is much finer and lighter in colour. Please read our testimonials.

Is laser hair removal the solution for in-growing hairs?

Laser hair removal is an effective treatment for ingrown hairs. It doesn’t leave irritating red bumps that most people see after waxing and other old fashion hair removal methods.

Who is a good candidate for laser hair removal?

All skin types can be treated with the Cyonsure Elite but the perfect candidate has dark hair and light skin. Dark or tanned skin with dark hair can also be treated using the Nd:YAG. White hair and light blonde hair respond poorly to laser therapy.
